Choosing efficient appliances can lower your energy bills for years to come. Here’s what to look for when you’re comparing models.
Check the energy label
Appliances sold in the UK carry an energy label rated from A (most efficient) to G. The label also shows estimated annual energy use, which is the most useful figure for comparing two models.
Pick the right size
A bigger appliance isn’t always better. An oven or fridge that is larger than you need will use more energy than necessary.
Look for useful features
Features such as fan cooking, good insulation and eco modes can help reduce energy use day to day.
Use it well
Avoid opening the oven door during cooking, keep seals clean, and only preheat for as long as you need.
