The right tiles make a bathroom look good and stay easy to look after. Here are the main things to think about before you buy.
Porcelain or ceramic?
Porcelain is denser and absorbs less water, so it is a good choice for floors and shower areas. Ceramic is lighter and easier to cut, which makes it a popular choice for walls.
Think about slip resistance
For bathroom floors, choose a tile with a matt or textured finish and check its slip rating. Polished tiles look great on walls but can be slippery underfoot when wet.
Use size to change how a room feels
Large format tiles, such as 600 x 600mm, mean fewer grout lines and can make a small bathroom feel bigger. Smaller tiles and metro styles add pattern and character.
Order a little extra
Measure each area and add around 10% for cuts and breakages. Buying everything from the same batch helps keep the colour consistent.
